Well, it’s 10:30, and I’m about to load my van and head out to Winnipeg with my good friend Mark Hayes for a Solidarity Rock benefit. The truth is, I am looking forward to this weekend more than I can say.
The Winnipeg guys have been the most amazing people to work with. Winnipeg has a great DIY ethic and vibrant creative communities. They’re one of the most continuously active and dynamic cities in Canada. They also throw tremendous parties. So, if you’re in Winnipeg, please come out! This is a Kids on Fire Cuba tour kick off show, and we’re accepting donations of musical instruments, equipment and anything else that can be used by our Cuban friends to build and document their scene.
Solidarity Rock isn’t just a nice idea. We have been working on this project for four years and seen a tremendous growth in participation and production within the punk rock world of the Cuban “Frequis.” It’s events like this one in Winnipeg that make the difference by adding fuel to the fire. We love music and we love people, so this is pretty much as good as it gets.

Stay tuned as Mark and I head to Winnipeg to get together with our friends to make the world a better place. Tonight, we’re hoping to hit Regina just in time to giver. Our buddy Carl is DJing at a pub, so we’re going to party.
