Well, we’ve been back from Cuba for just about a week now, and things are starting to get back to normal. Kids on Fire made Winnipeg proud! The Solidarity Rock tour took us to Sancti Spiritus, Trinidad, Santa Clara, Cienfuegos, Havana and Matanzas. This tour was especially awesome because our friends and compatriots Arrabio, from Trinidad, Cuba were with us every step. Arrabio is the first Cuban rock band of any description to tour Cuba. This is what Solidarity Rock is all about. This trip was amazing.
We have been working on photos and video from the trip for you to see, and that should be coming this way sometime this week. Please be patient, because it’s going to be great.
Leading up to the tour, we had a series of benefits and support shows in Winnipeg and Vancouver. None of this could be possible without the support of independent musicians and artists across western Canada. We collected a lot of instruments, and will be sending them down to Cuba soon. If you have anything to donate, please shoot us an email at donations@solidarityrock.com
Coming up soon, we’re bringing back the Solidarity Rock bangers to Edmonton! We’ve got shows lined up in April, May and June!
April 21, make sure you’re celebrating good Friday by coming out to the Crown and Anchor Pub for the first of 2 gear drive shows. They’re bringing you the drink specials to start your long weekend off right, and The Fight, Bombchan, Old Sins and Free Elliot are all raising their voices together for Solidarity Rock. This is the first time any of these bands have played a Solidarity Rock show, and we’re really looking forward to it.
This is shaping up to be a great spring for Solidarity Rock. Not only are we bringing more music to Cuba, we’re bringing you more music as well. Watch for a series of benefit Compilation albums in the next few months. Bands, if you want to support Solidarity Rock, send us an email at info@solidarityrock[dot]com, we’d love to hear from you.
We’ll have news of the next two shows this week, as we get everything firmed up.
